Loyalists vs Colonists : The Great Debate!

If you lived in the years leading up to the Revolutionary war in America, would you have been loyal to King George the Third. These people were called Loyalists.  Or maybe you would you have made the dangerous choice to side with the patriots? History has also termed these people colonists.

It would have been a much harder decision than you might think!

In order to help you better understand the conflicts that led up to the American Revolutionary War, this Web site shares many real-life stories from all sides of the debate, including the people who tried to stay out of the fight. These people are often called "neutralists."

For each individual, there is a quotation from them so that you can hear their struggle in their own words!

** I originally created this information for my 5th graders so that they could more easily complete the "You Decide: Loyalists vs. Colonists" Classroom Based Assessment. Since I am no longer teaching this grade, I chose to make it available to the world at-large.
